Those pics show half of the truth about Vancouver...it's a city on the ocean. When u r walking around, water is never more than few hundreds meter from u....which makes the city so cool and pleasant to discover.
Nature is everywhere and Stanley Park only short walk from downtown is a great place to enjoy the city...

From the Sea to the Sky

When it is time to go back to Vancouver from Whistler, u r taking a great road : Highway 99 called the "Sea to Sky" highway. Right now, this road is a big construction spot all the way to Vancouver (because of the Olympics coming), but the landscape is astonishing : driving on the edge of the cliff surrounded by the hills in the middle of the Pacific ocean...

Whistler - Home of the 2010 Winter Olympics

Whistler is not that famous outside Canada....but it is for sure going to change, because the Resort will host most of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics competitions....
So all the village is under construction....For example the Bobsleigh slope u can see on the pic...
At least, Jaap is ready for that!!!! Too bad, NL does not have a team....I told u short track was a better choice for a dutchie...

Whistler, BC

Impossible de visiter la Colombie-Britannique sans passer par Whistler. C'est ce qui se fait de mieux en matière de station de Sport d'Hiver en Amérique du Nord (avec Aspen bien sûr). Et le déplacement vaut le coup! Très huppé et bien fréquenté, le village garde trop son côté nature. Tout est très étalé, on peut se promener en vélo avec le réseau de pistes cyclables, et puis les massifs montagneux alentours sont bien sympathiques!
Il faut garder présent à l'esprit qu'on est en territoire des ours et qu'il faut donc faire attention et respecter ces douces créatures... Le village a été créé sur une zone où l'ours noir a eu l'habitude de vivre depuis des dizaines d'années....Il y ait resté...et on peut même se retrouver nez à nez avec un spécimen (voir ultérieurement)...
Bien sûr, comme toutes stations touristiques digne de ce nom en Amérique, Whistler ne déroge pas à la nécessité impérieuse d'offrir des terrains de golfs aux visiteurs....il y en a dc 4 ou 5 éparpillés dans la ville...
On est dc là pour profiter de la Nature et faire du sport....et moi, j'attends une seule chose : revenir l'hiver venu :-p

Cathedral Grove

I experienced huge trees when visiting Yosemite National Park in the US few years ago....It is still very impressive when u walk around this forrest with those Douglas-fir trees.
The one here, is 76m high and 9 feet diameter!!!! that's why i seem so small....

Canada beach!!!

Voila la preuve de mes dires...J'ai parcouru 4500kms pour arriver jusqu'a l'extrémité occidentale canadienne, et j'ai découvert des plages magnifiques avec des vagues pas dégueu...Juste derrière la plage, on trouve directement la forêt canadienne....c dc un mélange inédit, mais qui en fait tout le charme...
Passer des journées paisibles dans ce petit coin de globe est inoubliable!!!!!
ce qui restera aussi en mémoire, c le bain sans combinaison avec de l'eau très très froide qu'on s'est offert histoire de célébrer l'aboutissement de la traversée trans canadienne...

Sunset in Tofino, BC

When u hit the road on Vancouver Island and u go west....ur way stop on the west coast in a charming area : the pacific rim national park between Tofino and Ucluelet....
This little piece of island has everything : lakes, mountains, forrests, falls...and something u would never have imagined before coming there : great sand beaches, waves and surfers!!!!!
I felt at home!!! So, u spent days 360° surrounded by great landscapes...

Les orques du Pacifique!!!!

Bon, il est vrai que cette photo n'est pa super nette et qu'on ne fait qu'apercevoir les orques de loin...mais je vous certifie pourtant qu'on est bien sorti en mer avec un zodiac bien puissant afin d'observer ces gros mammifères...Et rien à dire , c méchamment impressionnant...surtout de les voir dans leur milieu naturel...Et pour préciser, il est impossible de s'approcher trop, car ces "poissons géants" sont relativement dangereux....
Mais les photos de SeaWorld un peu plus tard, vous permettront de les voir de près :-p

Victoria, BC

The British Columbia capital has this little english influence which make u feel in the old empire. Quiet, green and on the sea....great starting point for a whale watching cruise or exploration of other parts of this huge island!!!
Here are the harbour and the BC parliament!!! very english as u can judge....

Vancouver Island!!!!

First thing we discovered in BC was Vancouver Island!!! So we made the short cruise from the main land to this great island.....our furthest west point in Canada....It meant that I reached my goal : I crossed all Canada....made 4500kms!!!! and managed to have a bath in freezing 10°c water to celebrate it...AWESOME!!!

Welcome to BC!

So you thought Jasper and the Rockies was the end of the trip...of course not, only the first stage of many others...My goal since I arrived in the Maple Leaf country was to cross it ALL...
After visiting Alberta, it was time to go on to reach the legendary BRITISH COLUMBIA!!!
as the pic shows...they defines it as "the best place on earth"...I would not be that definitive...but this province has so diversified and great stuff to offer, a little paradise....We tried our best to enjoy...so here are some moments captured...
